About
Our Third Space is Veneta’s bookstore and public house — a local room for reading, drinks, and neighborly company outside home and work.
What a third space means here
Most of life splits between the place you live and the place you work. A third space is the other room in town — somewhere you can arrive without a role to perform, stay without a schedule, and meet people simply because you showed up.
That idea is the reason this business exists. Our Third Space is meant to be that kind of room for Veneta: familiar enough to return to, open enough for a new conversation, and slow enough that you can set the phone down and notice the hour.
It is not a concept lecture. It is a practical invitation to gather — to browse a shelf, share a drink, and linger among neighbors.
Bookstore and public house, together
The shelves and the bar belong to the same idea. Books invite discovery and quiet attention. Drinks encourage staying. Together they support the same third-space work: conversation, company, and time that is not owned by home or work.
You can explore curated reading on our Books page, and the beverage side of the room on Public House — two doors into one place.
The room

The interior is warm and close: dark wood, chalkboard menus, books kept as part of the furniture of the place, and the kind of craftsmanship you notice when you look twice. Warm light, collected objects, and an intentionally analog mood — closer to a neighborhood parlor and private library than to a bright retail floor.
The point is not nostalgia for its own sake. It is to make a room that feels human, tactile, and worth settling into.
A place for gathering
A third space comes alive when people use it. This room is shaped for book clubs, trivia, games, music, storytelling, and ordinary nights of conversation — the kinds of gatherings that turn a business into a habit.
What is actually on the calendar lives on our Events page. When nothing is listed yet, the invitation is still the same: come in, stay a while, and make the place yours for an evening.

Jordan Mackay
Our Third Space is tended by Jordan Mackay. The work is to keep a bookstore and public house that feels like a true third space for Veneta — welcoming, unhurried, and built for neighbors.
Come for the shelves and the bar; stay for an old-fashioned gathering place where you can read, share a drink, play a game, or take a chance on a conversation with someone new.
